Founding Visionaries
The DCT was founded by three visionary leaders in the field—Dr. Richard Greenwood, Professor John Wales, and Professor Ken Shaw (pictured left to right)—who continue to guide our efforts today.
Supporting Specialists, Transforming Diabetes Care.
The Diabetes Care Trust (DCT) was established in 2010 with a mission to empower diabetes specialists in their vital work supporting individuals living with diabetes.
Our focus is on providing practical support that enhances the efforts of diabetes experts, helping to improve the quality of life for those affected by diabetes. This includes ensuring that individuals have the knowledge to manage their condition effectively and receive the safest and most effective treatments available. DCT is also dedicated to advancing public understanding of diabetes mellitus and the importance of proper care. We actively support projects aligned with our charitable goals, driving positive change in diabetes care.
We maintain a strong partnership with the ABCD. Together, we deliver professional education, raise public awareness, and initiate groundbreaking clinical research and audit studies in diabetes. The ABCD also plays a crucial role in national health decision-making, ensuring that the voices of those with diabetes are heard. Their commitment to preserving and enhancing specialist diabetes care services, including the education and development of future specialists, is unwavering. ABCD also provides invaluable support to clinical diabetologists, offering mentoring services and assisting with management issues to ensure the highest standard of care.
Members of the ABCD are a tremendous resource, contributing their expertise to both local and national diabetes care. They support the DCT’s mission by serving as trustees and offering practical assistance in achieving our charitable objectives. Through collaboration and dedication, we are making a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by diabetes, both now and in the future.
